COTW: University of Chicago

December 22, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I thought I would give you a little snippet of the information from College of the Week’s article on the University of Chicago.

The University of Chicago, founded in 1890, has grown to be among the very best universities in the world. It has a relatively small undergraduate population of 3,400. This is a school that is not for the faint of heart. You will study and you will study and when you are done studying, you will study some more.

Chicago prides itself on the school’s free-spirited, give-and-take, discussions. Many students participate in co-authoring journal articles (a not common task for undergraduates elsewhere) and complete independent study projects. It offers a tremendous student:faculty ratio of 6:1.

One added benefit to going to the University of Chicago is that the school guarantees all of its undergraduates a space in student housing for the entire four years. This is primarily to encourage community among students.
